One
of the simplest of lock fastenings, a metal plate, the cam (or pawl),
is fixed to the locks core and is rotated as the key rotates.
This movement, typically through 90 or 180 degrees is used to directly
restrain movement of a door or flap, control mechanical linkages or
operate separately mounted switches. Choice of the correct lock type is
paramount. But correct installation is also essential in reinforcing
the locks own integral strength. The type of lock required in
invariably dictated by the space available and the loads imposed on the
locks. The most commonly used in industrial applications is the Camlock.
